According to traffic management plans issued for the current construction phase, vehicle movement between residential pockets near Hillcrest Housing Society and Neelkanth Greens has been restricted at select junctions, with motorists being redirected through temporary alternate routes. Officials indicated that the diversions will remain operational round the clock for the next 12 months. Infrastructure analysts say underground tunnelling beneath environmentally sensitive zones such as the Sanjay Gandhi National Park reflects a shift towards minimising surface disruption in dense metropolitan regions. However, experts also caution that large-scale tunnelling projects require sustained environmental monitoring, groundwater management and careful ecological safeguards during execution. The Thane Borivali Tunnel project is also expected to influence future real estate and economic activity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region by improving accessibility between employment hubs and expanding residential corridors.
