Income Tax Surveys 3 Rajasthan Hospitals Over Suspected Rs 20 Crore Evasion

Rajasthan hospital tax survey at a private hospital entrance with officials and police personnel

The Income Tax Department surveyed three Park Group hospitals in Rajasthan on Monday over suspected tax evasion of nearly Rs 20 crore and possible discrepancies in financial records, while officials also examined claims submitted under government healthcare schemes.

The surveys began between 6 am and 6.30 am at Amar Medical and Research Centre in Mansarovar, Jaipur; R&R Multispeciality Hospital on Chirawa Road in Jhunjhunu; and Kailash Hospital in Behror in the Kotputli-Behror district. Similar action was also carried out at hospitals in Punjab and Haryana, according to sources cited in the report.

Police personnel were deployed at the hospital entrances during the operation, and access for outsiders was temporarily restricted. The movement of patients, attendants and hospital staff was regulated while the Income Tax teams conducted their examination.

Officials examined documents, billing records and digital data stored on computers and servers. The teams also scrutinised financial transactions, tax payments and bank account details to identify possible discrepancies in the hospitals’ records. “The surveys are focused on suspected tax evasion and irregularities in financial transactions and accounts,” an official was quoted as saying.

In Rajasthan, the review also covers records connected with claims under government healthcare programmes, including the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Rajasthan Government Health Scheme, Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana and Ayushman Bharat. These schemes involve hospital claims and payments linked to treatment provided to eligible beneficiaries.

At the Park Group’s Behror hospital, officials questioned the chief operating officer and members of the accounts department about income records and claims submitted under the government schemes. The examination is intended to establish whether the financial records and claims correspond with the transactions and services recorded by the hospitals.

The action followed inputs about alleged financial irregularities, suspected tax evasion and possible manipulation of accounts, the report said. The department’s survey process allows officials to inspect records and gather information relevant to the tax assessment. It does not, by itself, establish that tax evasion or manipulation took place.

No final conclusion had been reached at the time of reporting. The department’s next steps will depend on the documents, digital records, financial information and scheme-related claims examined during the surveys. The hospitals’ operations and the status of any further tax proceedings were not detailed in the report.
