Hyderabad voter enrollment camps will be held at every polling station on October 15 and 16 for applicants whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll, following instructions from the Election Commission of India (ECI). Eligible applicants can use Form 6 to seek enrolment as new voters.
Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy has instructed election officials to ensure that the camps are conducted smoothly across the city. He directed the Hyderabad district election officer and collectors to issue instructions to electoral registration officers (EROs) to organise the camps at each polling station.
The camps are intended specifically for applicants whose names did not appear in the draft electoral roll. Form 6 is the application used by individuals seeking inclusion as new voters. The report did not specify the number of applicants expected to attend or the total number of names missing from the draft roll.
In addition to the Election Commission’s booth-level officers, booth-level agents representing political parties have been urged to remain present at the polling stations during the special camps. Their presence is expected to support the conduct of the enrolment process and provide party-level participation at the polling station locations.
The instructions place responsibility on district election authorities, EROs and assistant electoral registration officers to implement the exercise at the booth level. For Hyderabad residents, the arrangement provides a fixed two-day window to submit applications for inclusion if their names are absent from the draft electoral roll.
Alongside the enrolment instructions, the Chief Electoral Officer has issued a separate direction concerning applications seeking deletion of voter names. Officials have been told to comply strictly with the reasonable limits prescribed by the ECI for filing Form 7 applications by an individual elector.
Form 7 applications seek deletion of names from the electoral roll. According to the CEO’s memo, the ECI has prescribed reasonable limits on such applications and has also laid down a procedure for their disposal by EROs and assistant electoral registration officers. The memo instructed officials to follow both the filing limits and the prescribed disposal process.
The two measures address separate parts of electoral-roll administration: Form 6 applications allow eligible residents to seek inclusion, while Form 7 applications concern requests to delete names. The special camps will take place on October 15 and 16 at every polling station, while election officials have been directed to apply the ECI’s stated procedure when processing deletion requests.
