Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced diversions on several major roads from 3 pm on Wednesday until 6 am on October 24 for Durga Matha idol immersion at People’s Plaza, Garden Point and baby ponds at Jalavihar and Sanjeevaiah Park. The restrictions will affect routes around Khairatabad, the Secretariat, Tank Bund and PVNR Marg, with diversions imposed according to traffic conditions.
The traffic restrictions will cover key junctions including VV Statue, Old Saifabad Police Station, Ravindra Bharathi, Liberty, Upper Tank Bund and Nallagutta X Roads. The Hyderabad Traffic Police said vehicle movements in these areas would be regulated during the immersion period to manage traffic around the designated immersion locations.
Vehicles travelling from Punjagutta and Lok Bhavan Road towards Khairatabad flyover will be diverted at VV Statue towards Nirankari Junction. This change affects one of the main approaches to the Khairatabad area, where traffic movement will be influenced by the immersion activity.
Traffic travelling towards the Secretariat from Iqbal Minar and Upper Tank Bund will also face diversions. Vehicles moving from Liberty towards the Secretariat will be directed towards Upper Tank Bund instead. These restrictions will alter access to the central administrative area during the notified period.
The police have also specified diversions for vehicles travelling along the northern and eastern approaches to PVNR Marg. Traffic from Upper Tank Bund towards Nallagutta Bridge and PVNR Marg will be diverted through Karbala and Ranigunj. Vehicles coming from Ranigunj and Minister Road towards PVNR Marg will be diverted at Nallagutta X Roads.
The notified routes connect several high-use corridors, including Tank Bund, Nallagutta, Ranigunj, Minister Road, Khairatabad and the roads around the Secretariat. As a result, the restrictions will affect through traffic as well as vehicles approaching the immersion sites. The police have indicated that the precise restrictions at individual junctions will depend on traffic conditions.
The immersion arrangements cover People’s Plaza, Garden Point and baby ponds at Jalavihar and Sanjeevaiah Park. These locations are situated around the Hussain Sagar area, where road access is distributed across multiple junctions and bridge approaches. The diversion plan therefore includes both direct approaches to the immersion locations and connecting roads leading towards PVNR Marg and the Secretariat.
The restrictions are scheduled to remain in force from Wednesday afternoon through 6 am on October 24. Hyderabad Traffic Police have not specified any separate reopening schedule for individual junctions, stating that restrictions will be imposed depending on traffic conditions.
