The Hyderabad Cricket Association has sold 12,000 tickets for the India-West Indies T20 International at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, with the match scheduled for October 14 and the association asking spectators to avoid four-wheelers to limit traffic and parking congestion.

HCA Secretary M Jeevan Reddy said ticket sales began on the Ticketgenie app on Wednesday. Ticket prices range from Rs 750 to Rs 20,000, while a total of 34,000 tickets will be made available for the match.

Each buyer can purchase a maximum of four tickets. Reddy said at least 12,000 tickets would remain available for sale during the 24 hours before the scheduled start of the match, providing an additional opportunity for fans who have not yet purchased tickets.

The HCA has also announced allocations outside its regular ticket sales. It will distribute 2,500 tickets free of cost to Army personnel, while another 2,500 tickets will be allocated to school students from schools selected by the association. The respective school managements will be responsible for arranging transport and ensuring the students’ safe return after the match.

Reddy said the association was taking steps to provide spectator-friendly conditions at the Uppal stadium. The pitch has been dug up and a new one is being installed for the match, he said. The announcement was made in the presence of HCA spokesperson and former secretary T Seshnarayan and CEO Imtiaz Khan.

The match will also be the first occasion on which a state cricket association hosts an international fixture under the Green Cricket initiative, being conducted in association with the United Nations Environment Programme, according to the HCA. The association did not provide further details of the initiative in the information released about the match.

The HCA’s appeal to avoid four-wheelers places match-day access at the centre of preparations for the event. Large crowds travelling to a single stadium within a limited time window can increase pressure on approach roads and parking facilities, making arrival planning important for spectators and transport managers. The association has advised fans to reach the venue at least two hours before the match to avoid inconvenience.

The transport responsibility for school students has also been assigned to their respective school managements. The HCA said the schools would organise travel and ensure that students returned safely after the match.

The next public-facing milestone will be the continued release of tickets through the Ticketgenie app, including the reserved availability during the 24 hours before the match. The India-West Indies T20 International is scheduled to be played at the Uppal stadium on October 14.
