A collision involving around six cars on Hyderabad’s PVNR Expressway disrupted traffic for several hours on Thursday night after an electric car lost control and crashed into the central divider, according to a report by The Hindu and alerts issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police.
The accident occurred at around 10 p.m. on October 15, 2026, near Pillar No. 135. The electric car reportedly rammed into a pole on the central divider after its driver lost control. Five other vehicles then collided with it, resulting in a pile-up on the busy elevated road.
The occupants of the first car sustained minor injuries, while no fatalities were reported. The collision left several motorists stranded as the damaged vehicles obstructed the carriageway and slowed movement along the expressway.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police issued an alert about the accident near Pillar No. 131 on the PVNR Expressway towards Aramghar. In a post on X, the department said mobile staff from the Rajendranagar traffic unit had reached the spot to clear the vehicles. It asked commuters to proceed with caution and follow the instructions of traffic personnel.
The traffic police also issued alerts referring to the affected stretch near Pillar Nos. 131 and 140 towards Aramghar. The different pillar references indicate the wider section where traffic regulation and vehicle removal operations were being carried out after the collision.
The incident affected a key road link used by motorists travelling towards Aramghar and the airport-side areas of Hyderabad. With multiple damaged vehicles blocking the carriageway, traffic movement slowed considerably while police personnel managed the scene and facilitated clearance.
The circumstances that caused the electric car to lose control had not been established in the information available.
