A common passage to a shop in Hyderabad was restored after alleged encroachments were removed following the intervention of Nampally MLA Majid Hussain, ending the latest phase of a decade-long dispute faced by a school teacher.
The teacher had secured possession of the shop after pursuing the matter through legal proceedings for about 10 years. However, fresh encroachments on the common passage blocked access to the property, according to a report by Deccan Chronicle.
The teacher returned to Hyderabad after losing his job in Saudi Arabia during the Covid-19 pandemic and had been struggling to support his family. After gaining possession of the shop, he found that the passage leading to it was no longer accessible because of the alleged encroachments.
He then approached AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi seeking intervention. Owaisi directed Nampally MLA Majid Hussain to examine the matter, after which the MLA visited the spot.
The encroachments were subsequently removed, restoring access to the shop. The incident highlights how access to privately owned properties can remain dependent on the condition and regulation of shared passages, particularly when disputes over public or common-use spaces continue after possession issues have been settled.
Hussain warned those responsible for the encroachments and the officials concerned that any repeat obstruction would invite strict action. The report did not specify the identity of those accused of blocking the passage, the exact location of the shop, or whether any formal municipal or police proceedings were initiated.
The MLA’s warning is the latest stated administrative response in the matter. Further action would depend on whether the passage remains clear and whether authorities pursue any formal proceedings against those responsible for the alleged encroachments.
