Hyderabad Airport Makes Lost-and-Found Claims Easier to Track

Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has launched a real-time lost-and-found tracking platform that allows passengers to report misplaced belongings, monitor requests and communicate with the airport’s Lost and Found team through a single digital interface.

The platform, launched on Monday, is designed to provide passengers with updates throughout the recovery process. It covers the submission of lost-item requests, tracking of their status and communication with airport personnel when additional verification is required.

Passengers seeking to report a missing item must visit the Hyderabad Airport Lost and Found portal and provide their contact details, the category of the item and a description of it. They must also share information about when and where the item was misplaced inside the airport. A photograph can be uploaded, if available, to help the airport identify the belongings.

After a request is submitted, the passenger receives a unique reference ID by email. This ID can be used to track the request online and view its details. The system is intended to replace the uncertainty of following up on a lost-item complaint without a clear status update by giving passengers a digital record of the request.

The platform also includes a secure communication feature through which passengers can respond to the Lost and Found team if further verification is needed. This could include clarifying the item’s description or confirming details before the airport returns it, although the airport’s reported announcement does not specify additional verification timelines or recovery rates.

Updates are provided until an item is identified, verified and returned to its owner. The launch places the reporting and recovery process within a structured digital workflow, with the reference ID serving as the primary link between the passenger and the airport’s Lost and Found team.

RGIA is one of the country’s major passenger gateways, and the platform addresses a routine but consequential problem in airport operations: coordinating information about belongings misplaced across passenger areas and connecting verified owners with recovered items. The airport has not, in the reported announcement, provided details on the number of cases the system is expected to handle or whether the platform will later be integrated with other airport passenger-service systems.
