Hoskote Aerospace Facility Gets $40 Million Expansion as Gopalan Targets 50% Growth

Hoskote aerospace facility with industrial manufacturing infrastructure in Bengaluru

Gopalan Aerospace India Private Ltd has launched a new production line at its Hoskote facility in Bengaluru after investing approximately $40 million in the site, expanding its capacity to serve aerospace, defence and space programmes. The company is targeting year-on-year growth of 50 per cent over the next three to five years.

The production line was launched in the presence of Karel Havlíček, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, and C Prabhakar, Director of Gopalan Enterprises. The facility is spread across 10.5 acres and includes more than 1,50,000 sq ft of manufacturing infrastructure.

Gopalan Aerospace has also signed five memoranda of understanding with Czech partners. The proposed areas of collaboration include fire-extinguishing solutions, unmanned aerial vehicles such as fixed-wing drones and quadcopters, thermoreflective coating technology, unmanned traffic management systems and jet-powered UAVs.

The Hoskote facility provides precision CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, advanced composites, aerostructures and complex assemblies. It supports both build-to-print and build-to-specification solutions, allowing the company to manufacture components and assemblies based on customer designs as well as develop products to specified requirements.

The company holds AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certifications, along with Nadcap accreditations for composites and welding. Its customers and programme partners include Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Israel Aerospace Industries, Larsen & Toubro, the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, the Indian Space Research Organisation, the National Aerospace Laboratories, Expleo and Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. The Indian Army and Indian Air Force are also listed among its customers or programme partners.

For Bengaluru’s eastern manufacturing belt, the expansion adds another high-value industrial facility to the Hoskote area, where the availability of large-format manufacturing space is central to supporting specialised production. The company’s stated capabilities also show how aerospace manufacturing depends on a combination of machining, fabrication, composite work, certification and complex assembly rather than a single production process.

Gopalan Aerospace’s aerospace business currently generates approximately $20 million in annual revenue. The company expects the expanded operation to take on more complex and higher-value aerospace, defence and space programmes as the new production line becomes operational.

At planned capacity, the Hoskote facility is projected to generate approximately $50 million in annual revenue. Prabhakar said the company aimed to contribute to India’s role in global supply chains by expanding what the country could build and deliver internationally. The company’s stated growth target and the projected facility revenue will depend on the execution of its planned capacity and programme collaborations.
