Haryana Sets 10-Day Deadline for Road Complaints Across State

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has ordered officials to resolve road-related complaints received through the Mhari Sadak app within 10 days, while directing departments to disclose responsible officials’ contact details and enforce construction-quality standards across the state.

The order was issued during a review meeting on road conditions in Chandigarh, held alongside the transfer of Rs 1,634.27 crore to 50.46 lakh beneficiaries under various welfare schemes. The road directive places responsibility for complaint resolution, construction quality and post-completion defects on the departments and officials handling public works.

Saini directed departments to follow Public Works Department standards and use reinforced cement concrete or bitumen instead of tiles for road construction. He said that if a road deteriorates before the end of its stipulated period and an inquiry establishes negligence, the performance of the concerned officer would be linked to the Annual Confidential Report.

Construction sites must display the name of the implementing agency, the completion date, the defect liability period and contact details of the officials concerned. Departments were also instructed to make officials’ mobile numbers public so residents can report irregularities or the use of substandard construction material.

Officials told the meeting that GIS mapping had been completed for 63,621.53 km of roads. The system has been integrated up to the sub-divisional officer and junior engineer levels, allowing complaints to be routed directly to the officials responsible for the relevant road stretch.

For 2026-27, improvement work has been approved for 6,593 roads covering 7,352.26 km. Work on 769.35 km has been completed, while work on another 1,347.14 km is underway. The government is also developing one model road in every district and plans to build 10 iconic roads in Gurgaon with smart lighting, greenery and street furniture.

The chief minister further directed that colonisers be held responsible for repairing roads in their colonies. If they fail to act, the government will recover the repair cost, according to the report.

The welfare transfers announced at the programme included Rs 1,131.07 crore for 35.13 lakh beneficiaries under 15 social security pension schemes. Another Rs 212.16 crore was transferred to 10.10 lakh women under the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi scheme, while Rs 20.39 crore was released as an LPG subsidy for 5.14 lakh women under the Har Ghar-Har Grihini scheme.

The government also released Rs 158.80 crore to 4,222 families under the DAYALU scheme and Rs 34.79 crore as price-difference compensation to 3,384 potato and cauliflower growers under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. The immediate administrative milestone for the road system is the 10-day deadline for resolving complaints submitted through Mhari Sadak.
