IndiGo has launched a direct flight service between Guwahati and Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar, creating a faster air connection between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and opening more convenient onward links to several major Indian cities.
The service will initially operate five days a week on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The flight will depart Guwahati at 11:45 am and arrive in Itanagar at 12:40 pm. The return service will leave Itanagar at 1:10 pm and reach Guwahati at 2:05 pm.
The route is scheduled to become a daily service from October 25 under IndiGo’s winter schedule. Once the daily operation begins, the Guwahati–Itanagar flight will depart at 12:35 pm and arrive at 1:25 pm. The return flight will leave Itanagar at 3 pm and reach Guwahati at 3:55 pm.
The direct Guwahati-Itanagar flight addresses long-standing demand for faster regional travel between the two state capitals. The connection is also significant because Guwahati serves as an important access point for passengers travelling onward to other parts of the country, while Itanagar is the administrative capital of Arunachal Pradesh.
According to officials cited in the report, the service will improve onward connectivity to Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Jaipur and Lucknow. The new route therefore provides a direct link between Guwahati and Itanagar while also giving passengers travelling from Arunachal Pradesh a more convenient option for reaching destinations beyond the Northeast.
The operational pattern reflects a phased expansion rather than an immediate daily schedule. IndiGo will first run the route on five specified days each week before moving to daily operations from October 25. This allows passengers to use the service during the initial schedule while preparing for a broader frequency once the winter timetable comes into effect.
For residents, government employees, business travellers and visitors moving between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, the change reduces dependence on indirect travel arrangements. The published timings also allow a same-day journey between Guwahati and Itanagar, with the outbound flight taking 55 minutes and the return flight taking 55 minutes under the initial schedule.
Passengers have been advised to check IndiGo’s official website for the latest timings before booking or travelling. Flight schedules can change, and the airline’s published information remains the relevant reference for fares, availability and operational updates.
