Gujarat Plans 13 Industrial Job Fairs Across Key Clusters

Gujarat industrial recruitment fair connecting job seekers with employers at an industrial cluster

Gujarat’s Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department will organise 13 cluster-level industrial recruitment fairs across the state, including Ahmedabad, to connect local job seekers with companies operating in nearby industrial hubs. The fairs are being planned at a cost of Rs 73.12 lakh and are intended to make employment opportunities more accessible within candidates’ regions.

The programme will bring candidates and industrial units together at common venues, with the stated objective of improving access to jobs for young people without requiring them to travel long distances to other parts of the state. The department is expected to give priority to industrial units that are widely established in each cluster and have the capacity to generate substantial local employment.

The planned fairs will cover clusters grouped under four regional arrangements. The Rajkot region will include Jamnagar, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Kutch-Bhuj and Rajkot. The Surat region will cover Surat, Valsad and Bharuch. The Ahmedabad region will include Ahmedabad, Mehsana and Banaskantha, while the Vadodara region will cover Vadodara and Godhra.

The programme will also include the newly formed Vav-Tharad district, according to the report. The department has said that the cluster-level arrangements will take account of geographic convenience and transport access, including the ease with which candidates can travel between nearby districts to attend a fair.

The recruitment fairs are intended to serve candidates with different educational qualifications as well as employers looking for workers across industrial sectors. Bringing both groups to one location is expected to allow companies to conduct recruitment closer to the areas where potential employees live and to widen participation among local candidates.

The cluster model reflects the way industrial activity is distributed across Gujarat. Instead of organising a single state-level recruitment event, the department is grouping nearby districts around established industrial centres. This approach places the employment exercise closer to the production and manufacturing units that are expected to recruit, while also creating a common platform for candidates from adjoining districts.

For industrial employers, the fairs will provide access to candidates from multiple nearby districts. For job seekers, the arrangement is intended to reduce the geographic barrier involved in identifying companies and attending recruitment processes. The report does not specify the names of participating companies, the number of vacancies, the educational qualifications required for individual positions or the dates and venues of the fairs.

The department has stated that the cluster-wise industrial recruitment fairs will begin shortly. Further details on the schedule, participating employers, vacancies, registration process and venue arrangements are expected when the programme is formally launched.
