Ghaziabad Road Crash Kills 11-Year-Old Girl as Driver Flees

Police inspect a tractor-trolley after a fatal Ghaziabad road crash in Indirapuram.

An 11-year-old girl was killed and her 18-year-old brother injured after their scooty was hit by a tractor-trolley in Niti Khand, behind Jaipuria Mall in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, on Monday afternoon. The tractor driver fled the spot after leaving the vehicle behind, and police have formed a team to trace him.

The deceased was identified as Divya, a resident of Ahinsa Khand 2. Her brother, Pratham, was riding the scooty when the crash occurred at around 12.30 pm. The siblings were reportedly travelling to a local market for shopping.

ACP Indirapuram Suryabali Maurya said a passerby alerted the police helpline after the collision. A police team reached the location and took both siblings to a nearby hospital. Divya died during treatment, while Pratham was reported to be stable.

According to the ACP, the initial investigation indicated that Pratham attempted to overtake the fast-moving tractor-trolley when it struck the scooty from the side. Both siblings fell onto the road, and Divya came under the tractor’s wheel, sustaining fatal injuries, police said.

The tractor driver left the scene, while the vehicle was abandoned at the location. Police are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to establish the sequence of events and identify the driver. The investigation is focused on tracing him and determining the circumstances that led to the collision.

The family declined to allow a postmortem examination and said it would submit a written complaint. Police said an FIR would be registered after receiving the complaint.

The crash follows another fatal collision involving a two-wheeler and a heavy vehicle in Ghaziabad. On September 14, 35-year-old teacher Amrita Gupta was killed after a truck struck her scooty near Rotary Golchakkar in Raj Nagar Extension. Gupta, who worked at Little Flower School in Delhi’s Durgapuri, died at the spot, according to the report.

Police have not announced an arrest in the Niti Khand case. CCTV examination and the family’s written complaint are the next stated steps in the investigation.
