Faridabad Power Problems Persist as Residents Face Hanging Lines

Faridabad power problems with overhead electricity lines near homes in a residential colony

Residents of Sarurpur Shyam Nagar Phase 2 in Faridabad say unresolved power problems, including hanging electricity lines and repeated faults, continue despite directions for complaints to be addressed within four days. Fifteen days after submitting a memorandum to the electricity corporation, residents said no survey had been completed and no improvement work had started.

The residents have sought the installation of additional electricity poles and the laying of new lines in the colony. They said lines are hanging outside homes because of inadequate pole infrastructure, creating a potential accident risk. Frequent faults are also causing power cuts lasting several hours, according to the report by Live Hindustan.

Residents said the colony has faced serious electricity-related problems for about two years. The electricity department has installed some poles and placed transformers in parts of the area, but residents said other sections have been left without the infrastructure they require. They have asked the department to extend the pole network and lay lines to improve supply and safety.

The issue was taken up with Sanjay Mangla, executive engineer of the Ballabhgarh division of the electricity corporation, through a memorandum submitted in recent days. The memorandum requested new electricity poles and lines for the areas where residents say the existing arrangement is inadequate.

Following the memorandum, the concerned sub-divisional officer and junior engineer were expected to conduct an on-site survey and submit a report. The report was to help the department determine the work required and decide on further action. Residents, however, said that 15 days after the memorandum was submitted, neither the survey nor the proposed improvement work had been completed.

The delay has increased residents’ dissatisfaction with the way their complaints are being handled. They said that completing the survey and preparing the report promptly could have allowed work on the electricity network to move forward. The reported four-day complaint-resolution direction has added to their concerns about the delay in their case.

With no visible action from the electricity corporation, colony residents are preparing to meet Union Minister of State Krishan Pal Gurjar. They plan to present their concerns about hanging lines, repeated faults, prolonged power cuts and the need for additional infrastructure, and seek early resolution.

Live Hindustan reported that executive engineer Sanjay Mangla was contacted several times by phone for his response, but could not be reached. The department’s position on the residents’ allegations and the status of the proposed survey was therefore not available in the report.
