Delhi Traffic Alert: Central Routes Face Disruptions on October 13

Delhi traffic alert showing congested central Delhi roads near Connaught Place

Delhi Traffic Police has warned of possible disruptions across central Delhi and several key routes on October 13, advising commuters to avoid non-essential travel in affected areas and allow extra time for journeys to railway stations, ISBTs and the airport.

Traffic movement may be affected around Connaught Place, Mandi House, central Delhi and sections of the Ring Road, according to the advisory reported by Live Hindustan – NCR. The police said route changes, restrictions or diversions could be introduced depending on ground conditions, and that these measures may be adjusted as the situation develops.

The locations identified as potentially affected include Panchkuian Roundabout, Mandi House Roundabout, Dr Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, also known as W-Point, and Ram Charan Agrawal Chowk, or A-Point. Traffic may also be impacted on Minto Road, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Guru Nanak Chowk, Chelmsford Road near the Outer Circle Connaught Place T-Point and the Bhairon Road-MGM Ring Road T-Point.

Other points listed in the advisory include the Lodhi Road flyover, Neela Gumbad Roundabout, the Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg crossing, the area below Bhikaji Cama Place, the area below Moti Bagh flyover and the Ring Road-San Martin Marg T-Point. Ashoka Road near the Jantar Mantar Road roundabout, Rail Bhawan Roundabout, the Jai Singh Road-Sansad Marg crossing and the Outer Circle Connaught Place-Barakhamba Road T-Point could also see changes in traffic movement.

The advisory further names Patel Chowk Roundabout, the Jai Singh Road-Ashoka Road T-Point, RML Hospital Roundabout and the Outer Circle Connaught Place-Sansad Marg T-Point among the locations where traffic may be regulated or diverted. The police have not stated that all these roads will remain closed, but said arrangements could change according to the prevailing ground situation.

Commuters travelling through New Delhi and central Delhi have been asked to plan their journeys in advance. Those heading to railway stations, inter-state bus terminals or the airport have been specifically advised to leave with additional travel time. The police have also requested motorists to avoid non-essential journeys through the affected areas and follow diversion instructions issued by traffic personnel.

The advisory reflects the operational challenge of managing traffic across a dense central-city network where Connaught Place, government districts, major roads, hospitals, transport terminals and ceremonial routes are connected through a limited number of critical junctions. A restriction at one point can therefore affect adjoining roads, although the traffic police have not provided a forecast of the likely duration or scale of congestion.

Delhi Traffic Police said commuters should rely on its real-time updates, cooperate with traffic personnel and follow instructions at the affected locations. Restrictions may be eased or adjusted once conditions return to normal.
