Delhi voters will have until October 30 to file claims and objections under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Chief Electoral Officer Ashok Kumar said on October 16, as election authorities work to resolve discrepancies affecting about 33 lakh cases in the electoral roll exercise.

Kumar appealed to eligible residents whose names were left out of the draft process to submit Form 6 for registration as voters. The deadline covers claims and objections related to names missing from the draft voter list or cases that require correction or clarification.

According to figures cited by the Delhi CEO, the national capital had approximately 1.45 crore voters based on data available until June 16. Of these, the authorities received around 97 lakh enumeration forms. The information received through these forms was used to prepare the draft electoral roll.

The CEO’s office said around 33 lakh cases showed discrepancies or could not be mapped during the exercise. Authorities have resolved approximately 24 lakh of these cases, leaving about nine lakh cases to be addressed. Kumar said the remaining cases would be resolved within the next 10 days.

The scale of the unresolved cases makes the claims and objections window significant for residents whose names may not appear correctly in the draft roll. The process also places importance on the ability of voters to access election officials, understand the documentation required and submit claims before the deadline.

The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office said citizens can approach 14,947 booth-level officers, 902 assistant electoral registration officers, 70 electoral registration officers, 13 district election officers or the Delhi CEO’s office if they have a complaint related to the SIR process.

Special camps are also being organised to help voters. Booth-level officers will assist residents at these camps, which are scheduled for October 18 and October 25. The camps are intended to provide an additional channel for voters seeking help with claims, objections, registration or discrepancies in the draft roll.

The CEO’s office said it had begun an active campaign to resolve the cases identified during the exercise. It reported that nearly 24 lakh of the approximately 33 lakh discrepancy or unmapped cases had already been addressed. The office’s next stated milestone is to complete the resolution of the remaining cases over the next 10 days, while the final date for claims and objections remains October 30.
