Delhi School Stabbing Turns Fatal; 5 Held, 3 Are Minors

Police presence outside a government school after a Delhi school stabbing in Mohan Garden.

A 17-year-old Class 12 student was fatally stabbed outside a government senior secondary school in Delhi’s Mohan Garden area after a dispute over school-uniform shoes, police said. Five people have been detained in connection with the incident, including three minors.

The stabbing took place near the school at about 6.10pm on Wednesday, according to the police. The student was seriously injured during the altercation and was taken to a private hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.

The incident began with a disagreement among students over whether the victim was wearing the shoes prescribed as part of the school uniform. According to a witness cited in the report, some students complained to a teacher that the boy was not wearing the specified footwear. The dispute escalated after school hours, when the students began arguing and then fought near the school premises.

One of the accused allegedly used a knife during the fight, injuring the student. Police later recovered the knife near the school gate. A case of murder has been registered, and further investigation is under way.

The victim’s family lives in Mohan Garden. A police officer said the student’s father is a former soldier and works as a security guard in Gurugram. The police have not disclosed the identity of the deceased student in the report.

The arrests include three minors, placing the incident within the juvenile justice framework for the underage accused. The police action will now focus on establishing the sequence of events, identifying the roles of each accused and determining how the knife was brought to or used near the school gate.

The location of the incident, immediately outside a government school after dismissal, has also brought attention to the period when students leave school premises. The available account does not establish whether school staff or security personnel were present at the gate when the confrontation occurred, or whether any preventive intervention was attempted before the fight became violent.

Police have registered the murder case and said the investigation is continuing. Further details, including the formal charges against the accused and the findings of the investigation, are expected as the case progresses.
