The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has urged protesters to maintain peace, avoid violence and respect police barricades ahead of its protest in Delhi, as around 200 people were detained and heavy security arrangements were reported around Central Delhi and Jantar Mantar.
In an advisory issued on Saturday morning, the group asked participants not to force their way through barricades or enter restricted areas. It also told protesters to follow lawful directions, avoid obstructing emergency services and refrain from carrying weapons or objects that could injure people.
The advisory came as police detained several people travelling towards the protest, including YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, who was detained from Sector 56 in Gurgaon, according to the Indian Express report. The detentions took place ahead of the planned gathering in the national capital.
The CJP warned protesters against violence, physical confrontations, threats and intimidation, regardless of provocation. It specifically listed vandalism, stone-pelting, arson and the destruction of barricades as actions that could endanger lives and undermine the purpose of the protest.
The group also asked participants not to threaten or abuse anyone. It advised them to inform a designated CJP coordinator and, where safe, the police if anyone encouraged violence, vandalism or other unlawful activity. Protesters were told not to carry sticks, stones, inflammable substances or other dangerous objects.
The advisory included instructions on recording and sharing material from the protest. The CJP asked participants not to circulate unverified claims, misleading videos, rumours or messages intended to create panic or hostility. It said incidents should be documented responsibly, only where it was safe and lawful to do so, without interfering with police duties, obstructing other people or putting the person recording at risk.
Participants were also told not to publish unverified allegations against individuals. In case of detention, the advisory asked protesters not to resist physically, to ask for the reason for the detention and to seek legal assistance.
Heavy barricading was reported across Central Delhi, particularly around Jantar Mantar, the designated protest location. Such restrictions can affect pedestrian movement, access to public spaces and the movement of emergency services, although the report did not provide details of any traffic diversions or official route closures.
CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were scheduled to arrive in Delhi on a flight from Mumbai at around 10:20 am on Saturday. The report did not specify the duration of the protest, the number of police personnel deployed or whether additional restrictions would remain after the gathering.
The immediate next steps are the arrival of the CJP leaders and the conduct of the planned protest under the security restrictions imposed around the site.
