Delhi Police have intensified security and outreach across the city ahead of a proposed October 10 protest involving CJP, Left groups and AAP’s student organisations, contacting resident groups, religious representatives and market associations to prevent disruptions and maintain public order.
Police personnel have been reaching out to residents, students and young people, urging them not to participate in activities that could lead to a law-and-order situation. Teams have also contacted market welfare associations, resident welfare associations and Aman committees in several areas.
These local representatives have been asked to cooperate with authorities and counsel people against joining activities that could disturb public order. The outreach has been extended to religious places and their representatives, with police requesting their assistance in maintaining peace and discouraging activity that could create tension.
Security arrangements have also been strengthened at locations through which people may arrive or gather. According to the report, checks were being conducted at hotels to track last-minute bookings. Railway stations and other transit points were under watch, with personnel approaching groups found gathering at these locations to ask about their plans.
The police are also monitoring online activity linked to the proposed mobilisation. Officials have identified around 10 to 15 social media channels allegedly involved in sharing fake artificial intelligence-generated content. Users reposting such material to increase its reach are also being monitored, according to sources cited in the report.
The measures reflect the way Delhi’s policing response is extending beyond the proposed protest site. Resident associations, religious institutions, market bodies, transit locations and online networks are being brought into the authorities’ preventive-security effort. The approach places local representatives in a role of communicating with residents and helping police identify possible mobilisation or tension around sensitive locations.
Police personnel have been instructed to remain in contact with local representatives and stay alert to developments ahead of the protest. Additional personnel are being deployed at sensitive locations and key points across the city, while surveillance has been intensified to prevent any untoward incident.
The report did not specify the proposed protest venue, the number of participants expected or any traffic restrictions. Authorities’ immediate focus remains on monitoring sensitive locations, tracking developments and maintaining public order before October 10.
