Delhi Police has cancelled leave for all officers and personnel from 8 October until further orders ahead of the proposed CJP protest at Jantar Mantar on 10 October, while increasing security, setting up checkpoints across the capital and directing local police to engage with residents.
According to the police information reported by Jagran, leave will not be granted during this period except in exceptional emergency cases. Such requests must be certified and approved by the authorised officer. The order applies to personnel across ranks and remains in force until further instructions.
The police have also directed that no personnel participate in training courses, other than training at the Delhi Police Academy, without approval from the Commissioner of Police. The instruction applies until further orders, with approving officers asked to ensure strict compliance.
The proposed demonstration has led to increased deployment across Delhi. Police have established checkpoints at the capital’s four borders and informed police stations across the city about the security arrangements. The report identifies CJP as the Cockroach Janata Party and places its proposed protest at Jantar Mantar on 10 October.
Local police have been instructed to visit different areas, including temples and mosques, and speak to residents. They have been asked to advise people not to travel to Jantar Mantar for the proposed protest and to stay away from unlawful activities. The outreach instruction places responsibility on police stations to communicate the restrictions and security concerns at neighbourhood level.
The police also reported that 25 first information reports were registered between 2 October and 8 October for alleged violations of Section 163 in Delhi. The report does not provide details of the individual cases, the locations where they were registered or the charges in each FIR.
The leave cancellation and wider deployment come as the city prepares for the proposed gathering at a designated protest site in central Delhi. Jantar Mantar is used for public demonstrations, but access, crowd movement and policing arrangements can affect traffic and movement in surrounding areas when security restrictions are imposed.
The police order will remain in effect until further notice. Emergency leave requests will continue to require certification and approval by the authorised officer, while participation in training outside the Delhi Police Academy will require the Commissioner of Police’s approval.
