Delhi Metro Sarthi App Crosses 10 Million Downloads in a Month

The Delhi Metro Sarthi app has crossed one crore downloads in a month and recorded close to 20 lakh views in Delhi-NCR, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), as authorities promote the platform as part of the city’s air pollution mitigation plan.

The app is opened around 8.2 lakh times every week on weekdays, said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC. The usage figures position Sarthi as a major digital access point for Delhi Metro commuters seeking tickets, route information and other transport-related services.

A city-wide campaign to promote the app is being carried out as part of the Delhi government’s action plan to address air pollution. DMRC said commuters would be encouraged to use the Metro more frequently during the winter months, when Delhi faces significant pollution-related challenges, and to use Sarthi for their ticketing requirements.

Sarthi is designed to bring multiple transport services onto one platform. In addition to Delhi Metro ticketing, the app provides access to DTC bus services, train bookings through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, interstate bus bookings, NCRTC’s Namo Bharat services and Noida Metro services operated by NMRC.

The integration is intended to reduce the need for commuters to switch between separate applications while planning and completing journeys across the National Capital Region. The app also includes Metro maps, first- and last-train timings, route guidance, parking information and details of station facilities.

Other mobility-related features include information on electric vehicle charging stations and battery-swapping stations. The platform also offers a virtual Metro card facility, allowing commuters to access a digital alternative for Metro travel.

Beyond transport, Sarthi includes mobile recharge, medicine ordering, FASTag recharge and other utility payment services. DMRC described the platform as a digital mobility companion that brings ticketing, transport information and everyday commuter services together.

The app’s role in the pollution mitigation plan links digital ticketing with the wider effort to increase public transport use. However, the figures released by DMRC refer to downloads, views and app openings; the statement does not provide a separate breakdown of active users, ticket transactions or journeys completed through the platform.

Dayal said the app was intended to make daily commuting simpler by providing access to multiple transport modes and services through a common digital interface. The promotion campaign and increased use of the Metro during the winter period are the next steps identified by DMRC.
