The Delhi Development Authority will open registration on 7 October for 209 economically weaker section flats near the Zakhira flyover on Rohtak Road, with applications accepted until 7 December under the second phase of its Janata Awas Yojana.
The flats are priced between Rs 34.86 lakh and Rs 35.50 lakh, while their sizes range from 61.48 square metres to 62.77 square metres, according to information released by the DDA. A computer-based draw for allotment is scheduled to be conducted by 15 December.
The registration announcement follows the launch of the brochure for the second phase of the housing scheme. The DDA said the programme is intended to make homes available to citizens at affordable rates. It also indicated that more housing schemes of a similar nature are planned in the coming days.
Applicants can obtain further information and access scheme-related details through the DDA’s official website, dda.gov.in. The registration window will remain open for two months, giving prospective applicants time to review eligibility and application requirements before the deadline.
The announcement comes as the DDA faces continuing scrutiny over the processing of property conversion applications. In an order dated 28 September, the Delhi High Court directed the authority to act within two months on pending applications to convert properties from leasehold to freehold.
The court was hearing petitions concerning difficulties faced by Delhi residents whose applications had not been processed. The bench of Justices Pratibha M. Singh and Vikas Mahajan noted that some applicants had already submitted their forms and paid the conversion charges applicable at the time, but were still waiting for the DDA’s decision.
According to the court order cited in the report, 1,373 conversion applications remained pending between 2020 and 2026, while the DDA had collected Rs 155.06 crore as conversion charges. Of these applications, 308 had been approved, but the corresponding conveyance deeds had not been prepared.
The High Court said pending applications should be processed under the policy applicable to them, while allowing the DDA to frame a policy for applications submitted in the future. The next hearing in the matter has been scheduled for 11 December.
