Chinnaswamy Stadium parking restrictions will be in force across several central Bengaluru roads on Saturday, October 17, when India and the West Indies play a T20 match at the venue. The traffic arrangements are intended to manage congestion around the stadium, with designated parking sites and separate pickup and drop-off arrangements for taxis and autorickshaws.
Police have advised spectators to use BMTC buses and the metro because parking capacity around the stadium is limited. Alternative parking will be available from 11am to 9pm at the St Joseph’s High School ground, the UB City building parking facility, the first floor of the Shivajinagar BMTC bus stand, the MLCP parking facility at Freedom Park and the St Joseph’s Boys’ School ground on Museum Road.
The restrictions cover both sides of Queens Road between Balekundri Circle and Queens Circle, and between Queens Circle and CTO Junction. Both sides of MG Road between Queens Circle and Anil Kumble Circle, as well as the stretch between Anil Kumble Circle and Queens Circle, will also have parking restrictions.
Other affected roads include the link road between MG Road and Cubbon Road, Raj Bhavan Road, T Chowdaiah Road, Race Course Road, both sides of Central Street, and both sides of Cubbon Road between CTO Circle and Manipal Circle. Restrictions will also apply along Kamaraj Road from Cauvery Emporium Junction to Dickenson Road Junction.
On St Mark’s Road, parking will be restricted between Ashirvadam Junction and Anil Kumble Circle, and between SBI Junction and Cash Pharmacy Junction. Museum Cross Road between MG Road and St Mark’s Road, Kasturba Road between Hudson Circle and Queens Circle, and parts of Cubbon Park will also be covered by the arrangements. The affected Cubbon Park stretches include King Road, the road in front of the Press Club, the road in front of Bal Bhavan and Fountain Road.
The restrictions further extend to Lavelle Road between Queens Circle and Vittal Mallya Road Junction, and Vittal Mallya Hospital Road between Siddalingaiah Circle and RRMR Circle, as well as between Siddalingaiah Circle and the Bishop Cotton Girls’ School on St Mark’s Road.
A separate parking facility has been designated for police officers and staff on Tennis Club Road inside Cubbon Park. For Ola, Uber, taxis and autorickshaws, pickup and drop-off will be permitted only on Cubbon Road between BRV Junction and CTO Circle. Authorities have asked visitors to plan their journeys around public transport and follow traffic personnel’s instructions during the match.
