A 21-year-old college student died in Chennai on Wednesday after sustaining severe injuries in a terrace fall while allegedly trying to flee from police in TP Chathiram, according to a report by DT Next. The deceased has been identified as R Kishore Kumar, a resident of TP Chathiram and a third-year B.Com student at a private college in Avadi. He had been undergoing intensive care for about a week after the fall and died without responding to treatment, the report said.
According to police, the incident occurred on the night of October 14 in Kamarajar Nagar, TP Chathiram. Residents alerted the police after reportedly seeing a group of youths smoking ganja on the terrace of a house in the area.
A police team then reached the location. Police said the youths panicked after seeing the personnel and attempted to flee from the terrace. During the incident, Kishore Kumar and K Nithish Kumar, 25, who were from the same locality, jumped from the terrace and suffered serious injuries.
Police personnel rescued both men and admitted them to Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital. Kishore Kumar was reported to be in critical condition and remained under intensive care until his death on Wednesday. Nithish Kumar is continuing to receive treatment at the hospital.
