A Chennai airport flight cancellation disrupted Scoot’s scheduled service to Singapore after the pilot detected a technical snag while the aircraft was moving towards takeoff in the early hours of Saturday, October 3. All 322 people on board, including 310 passengers and 12 crew members, were reported safe.
The flight was scheduled to depart from Chennai International Airport for Singapore at midnight. Scoot’s service typically arrives in Chennai from Singapore at 10.50 pm before leaving for Singapore around midnight, according to the report.
All passengers had boarded and the aircraft doors had been closed when the pilot identified the technical problem as the aircraft began moving along the runway. The pilot brought the aircraft to a stop and alerted the Chennai airport control room.
The aircraft was then towed back to its departure point. Passengers were asked to leave the plane while aircraft engineers inspected it and attempted to rectify the snag. They were accommodated in airport lounges during the initial repair effort.
The technical issue could not be resolved by 5 am, leading to cancellation of the scheduled flight. The passengers were subsequently transported by buses to different hotels in Chennai for accommodation.
The airline said the flight was expected to depart for Singapore later on Saturday after the technical problem was rectified. The report did not provide further details about the nature of the snag, the aircraft involved or the revised departure time.
