The Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG), Telangana State Association, has reported a 176 per cent rise in membership to 47,448 members across 1,494 units during 2025–26, alongside new funding for training facilities and activities in government schools.
BSG chief commissioner M Dana Kishore and state secretary Dr E Naveen Nicolas briefed Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on the organisation’s progress on Saturday. They informed him that a new training hall and auditorium at the State Training Centre in Jeedimetla is expected to be completed by the end of October.
The facility has received Rs. 50 lakh through Bharat Dynamics Limited’s corporate social responsibility funding and Rs. 35 lakh in financial assistance from the Governor. The project is intended to strengthen the state association’s training infrastructure as its membership and school-level activities expand.
More than Rs. 25.97 crore has also been sanctioned under Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI for expanding BSG activities in government schools. According to the officials, the funding will support the training of 6,000 Scout Masters and Guide Captains and the implementation of BSG programmes in 3,253 government schools.
The planned school expansion is projected to involve more than 1.28 lakh students. The programme will therefore require coordination across schools, trained personnel and the BSG’s existing unit network as activities are introduced or strengthened in government institutions.
The officials also informed the Governor that the BSG State Headquarters at Domalguda had undergone extensive beautification and improvement works. The BSG Model High School at Domalguda is scheduled to receive major infrastructure improvements through a Rs. 2.5 crore CSR grant from Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
The Governor also launched the new website of the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Telangana State Association. The training hall and auditorium at Jeedimetla are expected to be completed by the end of October, while the school-focused programme will proceed through the sanctioned Samagra Shiksha and PM SHRI funding.
