A bomb threat targeting Bhayandar railway station and Bhayandar police station triggered a security alert in the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar police commissionerate area on Wednesday evening, after an email was received at police headquarters around 3pm. Police began checks at both locations and deployed a dog squad while investigating the origin and motive of the message.
The email was sent under the name “Vaishali Rumde 9802” and named Ujjwala Savarkar, a 72-year-old resident of Virar. It also referred to a man identified as Rohan Singh, who allegedly claimed that his wife, Parvati Singh, had been murdered. The message held Savarkar and another woman, Ananya Savarkar, responsible for the alleged killing.
The email further claimed that a bomb had been planted from the United States. The supplied report does not establish whether any explosive device was found or whether the threat was genuine. Police security checks and searches were launched at the two locations mentioned in the message as investigators worked to assess the credibility of the communication.
Bolinj police traced Savarkar and are questioning her to determine whether she sent the email or whether her identity was used by someone else. During questioning, she reportedly told police that she had lost her phone. Her account is being examined as part of the investigation into how the message was sent and who controlled the identity used in it.
The incident has brought two public facilities into the police inquiry: a railway station used by commuters and a local police station. The report does not provide details of any disruption to train services, station operations or police-station functioning. It also does not state whether passengers or residents were evacuated.
Investigators are examining the email’s origin, the identities of the people named in it and the alleged murder reference to establish whether those claims are connected to the threat. The police response at the locations and the questioning of the identified resident remain the next reported steps in the inquiry.
