Bengaluru Road Accidents Kill Tech Worker and Nurse in Separate Crashes

Bengaluru road accidents scene on a city road with a scooter and traffic police investigation

Two separate road accidents in Bengaluru killed a 37-year-old technology professional and a 28-year-old nurse, while one crash near Kudlugate on Hosur Road is being investigated as a hit-and-run, traffic police said.

Puneeth Yadav died after the scooter he was travelling on lost control near Aravind Beller Apartments in Dodda Bettahalli Layout under the Yelahanka Traffic Police limits. Sindhu Yadav, who was travelling with him, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to hospital.

The two were residents of Venkatagowda Layout in Kempapura, Hebbal, and were travelling from Dodda Bettahalli Layout towards Yelahanka. According to the police, the scooter was moving at high speed when the rider lost control, hit a road divider and then crashed into a roadside tree. Puneeth suffered serious injuries and died at the spot.

Traffic police said a preliminary assessment indicated that excessive speed and negligent driving may have caused the crash. The police account did not specify whether Puneeth or Sindhu was riding the scooter.

The second fatal crash occurred near Kudlugate within the jurisdiction of the Hulimavu Traffic Police Station. Ranjith, a 28-year-old nurse from Kerala, was hit by an unidentified vehicle while riding his motorcycle towards his workplace in HSR Layout.

Ranjith lived in Electronic City with friends and worked as a nurse in an ambulance operated by a private organisation in HSR Layout. Police said he was travelling to the office early on Thursday after receiving an emergency call.

The collision took place near Kudlugate on Hosur Road. Ranjith fell from the motorcycle and sustained injuries. He died while being taken to hospital, according to the traffic police. The vehicle that hit the motorcycle did not stop, and efforts are under way to identify its driver.

The two cases point to different road-safety risks within Bengaluru’s expanding urban road network: loss of control and a crash involving a vehicle that allegedly fled the scene. The incidents occurred on routes connecting residential layouts, employment areas and emergency-service facilities, although the police investigations will establish the specific circumstances of each crash.

The Hulimavu Traffic Police Station has registered a case in connection with Ranjith’s death. Police are continuing efforts to trace the vehicle involved in the Kudlugate crash. Further action in both cases will depend on the traffic police investigations and the evidence gathered from the crash locations.
