Bengaluru is set for six consecutive days of rain, including three days of heavy showers, after rainfall on Thursday disrupted traffic and caused waterlogging on several roads, according to the India Meteorological Department forecast cited by Prajavani.

Rain affected several parts of the city and surrounding areas on Thursday evening after a cloudy day and rising winds. Rajajinagar, Indiranagar, Basaveshwaranagar, Vijayanagar, Marathahalli and Yelahanka were among the areas that received rain, with showers continuing in some locations into the evening.

Roads in several areas, including the Bengaluru–Hosur route, were reported to be waterlogged. People returning home after work faced difficulties in some parts of the city, while traffic movement was affected, according to eyewitness information cited in the report.

The IMD forecast says Bengaluru city and rural areas are likely to receive rain over the next six days. Friday, October 16, is expected to bring moderate rain in some areas, while heavy rain is forecast in parts of the city on October 17, 18 and 19. Moderate rain may continue on October 20 and 21.

For the next 24 hours, the city is expected to remain generally cloudy, with moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds moving at 30–40 kmph. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 31°C and 21°C respectively, the IMD said.

The forecast for the following 48 hours indicates generally cloudy conditions, with moderate to heavy rain possible alongside gusty winds of 30–40 kmph. Thunderstorms are also possible, with temperatures expected to remain around 30°C during the day and 20°C at night.

The rainfall comes after a warmer and sunnier start to the week and as the northeast monsoon period begins in Karnataka. The Thursday showers provided relief after the dry spell but also exposed the immediate mobility impact of intense rain, with waterlogging and traffic disruption reported across multiple locations.

The latest forecast places particular attention on the three-day period from October 17 to 19, when heavy rain is expected in some parts of Bengaluru. Residents and commuters will need to account for changing conditions on roads and possible delays during peak travel hours. The IMD forecast remains the latest official weather guidance cited in the report.
