Race Course Road in Bengaluru will be closed for 60 days from October 5 as the Greater Bengaluru Authority carries out white-topping work between Maurya Junction and Hare Krishna Road Junction, prompting traffic diversions through Sankey Road, Kumara Krupa Road, SC Road and Shivananda Circle.
Vehicles will not be permitted to travel from Shivananda Junction towards Maurya Junction or from Trilight Junction on Race Course Road towards Maurya Junction during the work period. The restrictions will affect motorists using Race Course Road and surrounding central Bengaluru routes.
The traffic arrangements include separate directions for buses and heavy goods vehicles. BMTC buses, private buses and heavy goods vehicles travelling towards KR Market on Sankey Road have been asked to travel from Windsor Manor to LRDE Junction, take a right and continue via Basaveshwara Junction.
Vehicles heading towards Majestic on Sankey Road should take Kumara Krupa Road towards Shivananda Circle. From there, motorists have been directed to turn right and then take a left onto SC Road towards Majestic.
For vehicles travelling from Old JDS Junction towards Trilight Junction, the prescribed route begins with the road on the left at Old JDS Junction. Motorists should then turn left at Raceview Junction and proceed via Kumara Krupa Road towards Shivananda Junction.
Vehicles travelling from Trilight Junction towards Maurya Junction have also been given an alternative route. They can take the Shivananda Flyover, reach SC Road via Nehru Circle and continue towards Majestic.
White-topping involves laying a concrete surface over an existing road and is being undertaken here on the stretch between Maurya Junction and Hare Krishna Road Junction. The closure means traffic will be shifted onto already important roads connecting Windsor Manor, LRDE Junction, Basaveshwara Junction, Kumara Krupa Road, Shivananda Circle, SC Road and Nehru Circle.
The traffic police have urged motorists to follow the diversions and cooperate with officials to maintain smooth traffic movement while the work is under way. The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place for 60 days from October 5, with the affected road section expected to reopen after the work period ends.
