The Bangalore Development Authority has extended the deadline for applications for 2,815 residential sites in Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout to October 31, giving prospective applicants an additional 15 days to complete the process.
The BDA had originally set October 15 as the last date after issuing the notification on August 31. The extension follows a slower-than-expected conversion of downloaded application forms and challans into completed applications. According to the report, more than 2,700 forms and challans had been downloaded, with the figure rising above 5,000 in some counts, but only about 1,100 to 1,700 applications had been fully submitted after payment of the registration fee and initial deposit.
The applications relate to sites being developed by the BDA for the general public. Of the 2,815 sites, 2,500 measure 9 by 12 metres, equivalent to 30 by 40 feet. Another 300 sites measure 12 by 18 metres, or 40 by 60 feet, while 15 sites measure 15 by 24 metres, or 50 by 80 feet.
The temporary price is fixed at Rs 64,584 per square metre. A 30-by-40-foot site is priced at Rs 69,75,072, a 40-by-60-foot site at Rs 1,39,50,144, and a 50-by-80-foot site at Rs 2,32,50,240. The registration fee is Rs 2,000, Rs 4,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively for the three site sizes.
The initial deposit varies by applicant category. For Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Category 1 applicants, the deposits are Rs 3,48,754 for a 30-by-40-foot site, Rs 6,97,507 for a 40-by-60-foot site and Rs 11,62,512 for a 50-by-80-foot site. For other applicants, the amounts are Rs 8,71,884, Rs 17,43,768 and Rs 29,06,280 respectively.
The report attributes the low number of completed applications partly to the high initial deposit and confusion or delays in obtaining the required 15-year Karnataka residence certificate. The extension is intended to provide applicants more time to arrange payments and complete eligibility documentation.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have resided in Karnataka for a minimum of 15 years. Neither the applicant nor a family member may already own a BDA or housing-society site or house within the Bengaluru metropolitan area. Applications can be submitted online through Seva Sindhu or the BDA’s official portal, with assistance available at Karnataka One and Bangalore One centres. The extended deadline is October 31.
