BDA Extends Bengaluru Site Deadline as High Deposits Slow Applications

BDA site applications in Bengaluru for residential plots in Dr Shivaram Karanth Layout

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has extended the deadline for online applications for 2,815 residential sites in Bengaluru’s Dr K Shivaram Karanth Layout to October 31, giving prospective applicants an additional 15 days to complete the process.

The original deadline was October 15. The extension follows limited conversion of downloaded application forms and challans into completed applications. Although between 2,700 and more than 5,000 application forms or challans had reportedly been downloaded from the website, only about 1,100 to 1,700 applications had been finally submitted after payment of the registration fee and initial deposit.

The BDA said the extension was intended to provide greater convenience to the public. The high initial deposit and confusion or delays related to obtaining the 15-year Karnataka residence certificate had reportedly led several applicants to postpone payment and final submission.

The residential sites have been offered to the general public in three sizes. The largest share comprises 2,500 sites measuring 9 by 12 metres, or 30 by 40 feet. Another 300 sites measure 12 by 18 metres, or 40 by 60 feet, while 15 sites measure 15 by 24 metres, or 50 by 80 feet.

The provisional total price of a 30 by 40 site is Rs 69,75,072, while a 40 by 60 site is priced at Rs 1,39,50,144. The provisional price of a 50 by 80 site is Rs 2,32,50,240. The stated rate is Rs 64,584 per square metre.

Applicants must pay a registration fee of Rs 2,000 for a 30 by 40 site, Rs 4,000 for a 40 by 60 site and Rs 5,000 for a 50 by 80 site. The initial deposit for applicants from the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Category 1 groups is Rs 3,48,754, Rs 6,97,507 and Rs 11,62,512 respectively for the three site sizes. For other applicants, the corresponding deposits are Rs 8,71,884, Rs 17,43,768 and Rs 29,06,280.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and must have lived in Karnataka for a minimum of 15 years. Neither the applicant nor a family member may own a BDA or society site or a house within the Bengaluru metropolitan area, according to the eligibility conditions reported for the notification.

Applications can be submitted online through Seva Sindhu or the official BDA portal. Applicants may also seek assistance at Karnataka One and Bengaluru One centres. The extended deadline for completing the application process is October 31.
