Baramati Plot Complaint Puts ₹1.50-Crore Land Deal Under Police Scrutiny

Baramati plot complaint involving a disputed roadside land transaction in Pune district

A complaint over an alleged ₹1.50-crore plot transaction in Waghळवाडी, Baramati, has been submitted to the Pune rural superintendent of police, with the complainant accusing members of the Khedkar family of withholding money, coercion, assault and threats. The allegations have not been independently established, and the police response to the complaint was not reported.

According to an application submitted by Amit Murlidhar Darade of Bhigwan on October 14, Dilip Kondiba Khedkar and Manorama Khedkar had asked him to help find a buyer for a roadside plot in Waghळवाडी, in Baramati taluka. Darade said he passed on the information to an acquaintance, Suryavanshi, from Malegaon, after which discussions were held at the Khedkars’ residence in Baner, Pune.

The complaint states that the proposed plot measured 14 gunthas and that the transaction was agreed at ₹10.75 lakh per guntha. The total value cited in the application was ₹1.50 crore. Darade said ₹25,000 was paid as earnest money, with the remaining amount to be paid during registration of the sale deed at Baramati on October 12.

Darade stated that he and the prospective buyer, identified in the complaint as Jagdale, had reached the Baramati sub-registrar’s office on October 12 when Manorama Khedkar called them. She allegedly told them that the family was staying at a lodge near the Baramati Club and asked them to come there to complete the transaction.

The complaint alleges that, after discussions at the lodge, the parties were asked to arrange a machine to count the money. Darade claimed that approximately ₹1.25 crore was then taken by Manorama Khedkar, Dilip Khedkar and their manager, Balraje Khedkar. He further alleged that he was later called into a room and pressured over the transaction documents.

According to Darade’s application, the family then told him that a fraud case had already been registered concerning the plot. He alleged that he was asked either to cancel the transaction involving the full amount or to execute documents showing a value of only ₹18 lakh. The complaint further claims that a dispute over the money led to Darade being held against his will, assaulted and threatened with harm.

The application seeks legal action against the individuals named by Darade. The allegations concern both the validity of the proposed land transaction and the handling of the money allegedly paid during the attempted sale. The supplied report does not state whether a first information report has been registered, whether the plot has been placed under any legal restriction, or whether the accused have issued a response.

The complaint adds another legal dispute involving the Khedkar family to scrutiny around land dealings in Waghळवाडी. The next step rests with Pune Rural Police, which will have to determine whether the allegations disclose cognisable offences and whether a formal investigation or other action is warranted.
