Balanagar Flyover Death: Iron Rod Falls From Auto, Driver Held

Balanagar flyover accident scene with a scooter and trolley auto near Fatehnagar in Hyderabad

A man died after an iron rod being transported in a trolley auto fell on him while he was riding a scooter near Fatehnagar on Hyderabad’s Balanagar Flyover on Thursday, police said. The trolley auto driver, identified as Nayeem Pasha, was arrested for alleged negligence.

According to Balanagar Inspector G. Prashant, Pasha had purchased the iron rods from a steel shop in Balanagar and was transporting them to Ranigunj. The incident took place when the trolley auto was taking a U-turn near Fatehnagar.

One of the rods suddenly fell from the vehicle and struck Prakash Pawar, who was travelling on a scooter. Pawar sustained severe injuries and died at the spot, police said.

Pawar was a resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Shapur. The incident brought police personnel to the flyover after they received information about the crash.

The case centres on the handling and transport of long, heavy construction material through a busy urban road corridor. The police have treated the incident as a case of alleged negligence by the trolley auto driver. The available police account does not provide details on how the rods were secured or whether any other vehicle or individual was involved.

After the incident, Pawar’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police arrested Pasha in connection with the death. Further details about the case and any additional action were not available in the police account cited by the report.
