Eight people have been arrested after a minor girl was allegedly trafficked from Tolichowki and forced into prostitution in Hyderabad’s Attapur area, police said. The girl escaped on October 5 and approached her family, after which a complaint was filed and an investigation began.
According to the Tolichowki police, the victim was allegedly taken from Tolichowki on September 2 by Shaik Atif. Police said she was then handed over to two women identified as Afreen, also known as Sana, and Samreen Begum. The two women allegedly transferred her to Sabiya Begum, described by police as a suspected brothel operator in Attapur.
Investigators said Rs 30,000 was allegedly paid in connection with the exploitation. The police account did not provide further details about the alleged payment or specify the role attributed to each of the eight arrested suspects beyond the movement and alleged exploitation of the girl.
The case was registered after the minor returned to her family following her escape. Police subsequently arrested eight suspects in connection with the alleged trafficking and sexual exploitation. The girl’s identity has not been disclosed.
During the investigation, police seized six mobile phones and an auto-rickshaw that was allegedly used to transport the victim. The seized items are expected to form part of the evidence being examined by investigators as they establish the sequence of movement between Tolichowki and Attapur.
The case highlights the role of local transport links and informal networks in the alleged movement of a vulnerable person across neighbourhoods within Hyderabad. The police account indicates that the victim was allegedly passed between multiple accused before being taken to the suspected brothel operator, making the investigation dependent on establishing the individual roles of each suspect and tracing the communications and transactions connected to the case.
The police have not disclosed additional details about the sections invoked, the identities of the other arrested persons, or the next legal proceedings in the supplied report. The investigation remains focused on the allegations, the seized devices and vehicle, and the circumstances in which the minor was moved and allegedly exploited.
