Alandi Road Stunt Case: Eight Booked, SUV Seized After Dangerous Reel Shoot

Police in Alandi have registered a case against eight people after vehicles were allegedly driven dangerously on a public road in Kelgaon, near Alandi, during the filming of an Instagram reel marking the arrival of a new Toyota Innova Crysta. The vehicle used in the stunt has been seized, police said.

The incident took place in the Kelgaon area within Khed taluka. According to the report, the accused allegedly drove vehicles in a reckless manner and performed circular manoeuvres on the road while recording a social media video. The driving created a risk to people present on the road as well as to those involved in the filming.

The case was registered at Alandi police station after the filming allegedly took place without prior permission. The report said a drone was used to record the stunt, despite a preventive order issued by the Pimpri-Chinchwad joint commissioner of police restricting unauthorised drone operations.

The vehicle involved was a newly purchased Innova Crysta bearing registration number MH 14 NS 4501. Mahesh Balkrishna Madke, a resident of Gopalpura in Alandi, had purchased the vehicle on 7 October 2026, according to the report. The reel was reportedly planned to mark the vehicle’s arrival and welcome.

Those named in the case include Mahesh Balkrishna Madke, identified in the report as a religious figure, reel creator Prateek Shinde of Baramati, Vishal Satare and Yash Mungse, along with four other people. Police have registered a case against all eight individuals. The report did not specify the legal sections applied.

The incident highlights the operational challenge faced by police and civic authorities when public roads are used as informal filming locations for vehicle stunts. Unlike a controlled private site, a public road brings ordinary road users into the same space as the activity, increasing the risk of collisions and injuries. The reported use of a drone also brought the filming under the scope of the local preventive order.

Police have seized the vehicle used for the stunt, and the Alandi police are conducting further investigation. The report did not state whether any arrests had been made or identify the next procedural step in the case.
