Police in Alandi have registered a case against eight people, including a local religious figure and a reel creator, after a new car was allegedly driven in circles in a dangerous stunt on a public road in Kelgaon, near Pune. The group also filmed the stunt using a drone without prior permission, according to a report by Lokmat – Pune.
The incident took place in the limits of Alandi police station. Police said the stunt was performed to create a social media reel celebrating the arrival of a new car. The vehicle was driven in a reckless manner on a public road, creating a risk for people present at the location as well as for those taking part in the filming.
The case follows an alleged violation of a preventive order issued by the Pimpri-Chinchwad joint commissioner of police concerning drone filming without permission. The report said the entire stunt was recorded from a drone despite the organisers not obtaining prior approval from the administration.
According to the report, Mahesh Balkrishna Madke, a resident of Gopalpura in Alandi, had purchased the new four-wheeler on October 7, 2026. The group allegedly organised the public-road stunt as part of a welcome and arrival reel for the vehicle. The car was reportedly made to spin repeatedly on the road during the filming.
The accused named in the police case include Mahesh Balkrishna Madke, identified in the report as a local religious figure, Pratik Shinde, described as a reel creator from Baramati, Vishal Satare and Yash Mungse. Four other people have also been included in the case, taking the total number of accused to eight.
Police have seized the four-wheeler allegedly used in the stunt. The case covers the alleged danger caused to members of the public and the participants, along with the unauthorised drone operation. The report did not specify the sections of law invoked in the case.
The incident highlights the enforcement challenge created when public roads are used as informal filming locations for social media content. In this case, police action included both registration of the offence and seizure of the vehicle. Further investigation is being conducted by Alandi police.
