Police have arrested three people after a road dispute involving a woman corporator in Ahmedabad allegedly escalated into threats, harassment and damage to her vehicle while she was travelling with her son and other family members, according to a report by Nav Gujarat Samay.

The incident took place at about 10 pm on Saturday when the corporator was travelling to watch a garba event. The family was reportedly using a shortcut along the Fatewadi Canal road after following Google Maps directions. During the journey, they encountered a Burgman vehicle whose driver was allegedly speaking on a mobile phone and did not give way despite repeated horn signals from the corporator’s vehicle.

The initial exchange reportedly developed into a verbal argument and a physical altercation between the two sides. Local residents gathered at the spot and brought the immediate confrontation under control, the report said. The dispute, however, allegedly resumed when the vehicles reached a turning towards Sarkhej.

According to the report, the Burgman driver again positioned his vehicle in front of the corporator’s car and called his mother-in-law and two other friends to the location. The group allegedly began abusing the woman and issuing death threats. When the corporator opened the car window and attempted to explain the situation, one of the accused allegedly behaved indecently with her and tried to pull her out of the vehicle by holding her hand.

The accused also allegedly attempted to open the car door and damaged its side mirror during the confrontation. The report identifies one accused as Shoeb Shama in one reference and as Shoeb Shah Fakir in another; the supplied report does not clarify whether these references concern the same person. Police have arrested three people in connection with the incident.

The corporator called the emergency response number 112 as the situation worsened. Police reached the location and took the accused into custody before beginning an investigation. The supplied report does not provide details of the sections invoked, the police station handling the case, or the names of the other two arrested people.

The incident places attention on the risks that can arise when a routine road obstruction or traffic disagreement escalates in a public setting. It also highlights the role of emergency response services when a dispute involving threats or alleged physical harassment moves beyond a traffic-related argument. The allegations remain subject to the police investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.
