Aequs has signed long-term supply agreements with French aerospace company Safran to manufacture critical aircraft components for Airbus and Boeing programmes, expanding production across its facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and Belagavi, Karnataka. The agreements extend Aequs’ existing relationship with Safran and broaden the Indian company’s role in the global aircraft supply chain.
The contracts cover machining of superalloy parts, along with precision machining, coating and assembly of landing gear components. The work will support Airbus A320, A330 and A350 aircraft programmes, as well as Boeing 787 programmes, according to a company statement reported by Economic Times.
A significant share of the manufacturing will be carried out at the upcoming Aequs Engine Components Ecosystem, or AECE, in Hosur. Aequs will also use its existing aerospace manufacturing facilities in Belagavi. The expansion places two South Indian manufacturing locations at the centre of a wider supply arrangement involving multiple entities of Safran.
The agreements extend Aequs’ partnership beyond Safran Landing Systems to Safran Aerosystems and Safran Electronics & Defense. With the latest contracts, Aequs said it now works with six Safran entities. The development gives the Indian manufacturer a broader role across aircraft component production rather than limiting the relationship to a single Safran business division.
Aequs executive chairman and chief executive officer Aravind Melligeri said the company believed in “long-horizon partnerships anchored in capability, reliability, and scale”. The company has worked with Safran for more than a decade, making the latest agreements an expansion of an established relationship rather than a new supplier arrangement.
The announcement follows an agreement signed with Safran Landing Systems in July 2026 for the manufacture of fully assembled wheels for the Airbus A320 family. That agreement runs through 2042 and covers production in India, from locally sourced aluminium to final assembly and testing. The earlier contract indicates that Aequs’ role includes multiple stages of component manufacturing and completion within the country.
Aequs operates manufacturing facilities in Belagavi, Hubballi and Koppal in Karnataka, in addition to operations in the United States and France. The company’s latest announcement links the upcoming Hosur ecosystem with its established Karnataka facilities, creating a geographically distributed production base for aerospace components. The statement did not disclose the financial value of the new agreements, production volumes, investment amount or direct employment expected from the contracts.
