Aadhaar enrolment camps will be organised at mandal educational officer offices and junior colleges across Telangana during the Dasara holidays, giving students and members of the public access to enrolment, mandatory biometric updates and other permitted services.
The school education department and Samagra Shiksha have directed officials to make the facilities available during the holiday period beginning October 12. The arrangement is intended to help children who do not yet have Aadhaar numbers and students whose mandatory biometric updates remain pending.
Samagra Shiksha state project director Dr E. Naveen Nicolas issued the direction, according to the department’s instructions. Officials have also been asked to ensure that the services are delivered in accordance with rules prescribed by the Unique Identification Authority of India.
Under the arrangement, mandal educational officers must inform headmasters about the camp schedules and venues. Headmasters are then required to share the information with students, parents and guardians, with particular attention to children whose mandatory biometric updates have not been completed.
The camps will provide Aadhaar enrolment for children without Aadhaar numbers and mandatory biometric updates, commonly required as children’s biometric details change with age. Other applicable Aadhaar services will also be available to the general public, subject to UIDAI guidelines.
The department has specifically prohibited unauthorised charges at the camps. Any fees collected must follow UIDAI-prescribed rates, while services that are exempt from charges must be provided free of cost.
The holiday-period arrangement places Aadhaar access within existing education facilities rather than limiting the service to regular school days. For families, the schedule could provide an opportunity to complete pending documentation while schools are closed, although the source material does not specify the number of camps, participating locations, operating hours or the total number of students expected to use them.
The instructions also make school-level communication an important part of implementation. Headmasters and education officials are responsible for passing on information about venues and schedules, while families must confirm the applicable service requirements and charges at the designated centre.
The camps will operate during the Dasara holiday period, with services governed by UIDAI rules and the implementation instructions issued by Telangana’s school education department and Samagra Shiksha.
