Haryana water and sewerage projects worth Rs 399.8 crore have been approved across the state, including a 100 MLD automated treatment plant in Gurugram, sewer network repairs in Rohtak and a new sewage treatment plant in Ambala. The approvals cover 13 projects and are expected to generate savings of Rs 19.5 crore against the estimated cost of Rs 419.34 crore.
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini approved the projects on Wednesday while chairing meetings of the High Powered Purchase Committee and the High Powered Works Purchase Committee. The works cover drinking water infrastructure, sewerage networks, roads and other public infrastructure across Haryana.
The Chandu Budhera waterworks in Gurugram will receive Rs 49.5 crore for a 100 MLD automated water treatment plant. The state has also approved Rs 48.25 crore for repairing damaged sewer networks in Rohtak and Rs 48 crore for sewer lines, a drinking water pipeline and a 3 MLD sewage treatment plant in Shahzadpur, Ambala.
The approved works include Rs 42.5 crore for sewerage and water-supply projects in Dhanori, Rs 54 crore for Kamri village, Rs 33.9 crore for Hisar, Rs 31.5 crore for Ratia, Rs 25.5 crore for Mahendragarh, Rs 24 crore for Jagadhri and Rs 17.9 crore for Ghasera village in Nuh.
The state will use Cured-in-Place Pipe technology to repair operational sewer lines without excavating roads. The method is intended to reduce road cutting and traffic disruption during sewerage works. To prevent water seepage, floors at waterworks and boosting stations across Haryana will be constructed with reinforced cement concrete.
The package also includes two stormwater drains in Panchkula, approved at a cost of Rs 34.3 crore, and a Rs 58.5-crore Public Health Engineering Department office building. A Rs 30.8-crore upgrade of the Gurugram-Pataudi Road link to the Dwarka Expressway was also cleared.
Other approvals included a Rs 51-crore convention centre with a 50-room hotel at IMC Sohna, a Rs 29.9-crore rest house in Karnal, a Rs 54.5-crore academic block at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University in Jind, a Rs 14.5-crore Scheduled Caste hostel at Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur, and a Rs 11.6-crore sports stadium with a synthetic track in Charkhi Dadri.
Senior officials, including chief principal secretary Rajesh Khullar and public health minister Ranbir Gangwa, attended the meeting. The approvals now provide the administrative clearance for the listed water, sewerage, road and public infrastructure works.
