The identified locations include major roads, intersections, flyovers, bus terminals and areas around metro stations. The 10 routes considered particularly dangerous are the Outer Ring Road, Ring Road, GT Road, Urban Extension Road-2, Rohtak Road, Wazirabad Road, Najafgarh Road, National Highway 9, Mathura Road and National Highway 8.

GT Road at Swaroop Nagar recorded the highest number of fatal crashes among the identified black spots, with 13 deaths reported in 2025. The same road recorded seven fatal accidents each at Mukarba Chowk, Libaspur bus stand and the Singhu border. On the Outer Ring Road, seven fatal crashes each were recorded near Bhalaswa Chowk and the area around Haiderpur Metro station.

Other locations with high fatality counts include the stretch near ISBT Kashmere Gate on Ring Road, where eight fatal accidents were recorded, and Azadpur Chowk, where six were reported. On Mathura Road, four fatal accidents each were recorded near Modi Mill flyover and Tughlakabad Road Metro station.

The traffic police list also includes ITO and IP flyover, Anand Vihar ISBT, Prembari Pul, SGT Nagar, Hanuman Mandir, Barapullah flyover, VIP College in Pitampura, the road near AIIMS, Punjabi Bagh Chowk, E-Block in Jahangirpuri and the area around the Nizamuddin-Yamuna bridge. These locations experience high vehicle movement, which traffic police officials said adds to road-safety risks.

The 492 pedestrian deaths were recorded between January 1 and September 30. The roads reporting the highest number of crashes during this period included Ring Road, GT Road, Outer Ring Road, Najafgarh Road, Rohtak Road, Wazirabad Road, UER-2, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, NH-9, Boulevard Road and Mathura Road.

Several traffic circles recorded more than 100 road accidents during the same nine-month period. These included Tilak Nagar, Model Town, Paschim Vihar, Shahdara, Khajuri Khas, Madhu Vihar, Sarita Vihar, Timarpur, Rohini, Delhi Cantonment, Punjabi Bagh, Rajouri Garden, Kotwali and Badarpur. Among the listed circles, Dwarka recorded 257 accidents, followed by Narela with 254, Najafgarh with 184, Samaypur Badli with 183, Aman Vihar with 166, Bhajanpura with 158, Ashok Vihar with 145 and Nangloi with 145.

Delhi Traffic Police identifies accident-prone locations each year using road-crash data. Senior officials said the list has been sent to the Delhi government’s Transport Department, the Public Works Department, the National Highways Authority of India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and other relevant agencies for assessment and corrective safety measures.

The traffic police has also increased enforcement ahead of the festive season, when market activity and vehicle movement typically rise. The Northern Range traffic team issued more than 10,590 challans over the past week for improper parking and dangerous driving, according to officials. Further action will depend on the assessment of deficiencies at the identified locations by the concerned agencies.
