An explosion at an under-construction building on Jarmia Road in Bengaluru’s Pulakeshinagar area injured two construction workers on Tuesday, prompting inspections by the Anti-Terrorism Squad, Internal Security Division and bomb squad, police said on Wednesday.
The injured workers, identified as Allauddin and Suraj, sustained serious injuries to their heads and faces. They were admitted to Bowring Hospital for treatment, according to a report by the Press Trust of India carried by the Times of India.
The incident occurred at a building that was still under construction, placing the focus on safety conditions at an active worksite. Police have not yet established what caused the explosion, and the available report does not identify the material or equipment involved.
Officials from the ATS, ISD and bomb squad inspected the site after the incident as a precautionary measure. Their presence indicates that authorities treated the blast as requiring a security and safety assessment, although the police report does not state that the explosion was linked to any deliberate act.
The Pulakeshinagar police have launched an investigation into the incident. The inspection is expected to help authorities determine the source of the explosion and establish the circumstances in which the workers were injured.
Construction sites combine unfinished structures, temporary electrical arrangements, stored materials and heavy equipment, making the identification of the immediate cause important for both the investigation and workplace safety. However, no conclusion about the cause can be drawn from the information currently available.
The two injured workers remain under treatment at Bowring Hospital, while the police investigation and site inspection continue. Further details are awaited on the cause of the explosion and any action that may follow from the authorities’ findings.
