Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari Set for Grand City Parade

Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari procession preparations near the Mysuru Palace

Preparations for the Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari have been completed, with the landmark procession set to draw large crowds to the palace precinct and the city’s ceremonial route. Entry to the palace-area viewing programme will be restricted to dignitaries, invitees holding gold cards, ticket holders and those with authorised passes.

The administration has arranged 48,000 seats for spectators at the palace premises. Only tableaux from 15 districts will be included in this year’s procession, while tableaux and musical bands representing the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy will be among the special attractions.

The procession will move along Mysuru’s principal ceremonial road and will include cultural troupes, tableaux depicting achievements and the ‘Parampareya Ratha’, a presentation showcasing the cultural richness of Karnataka’s heritage. The administration expects lakhs of people to participate in or watch the event along the route.

District Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth said 150 Kannada film artists, producers and directors would participate in the procession. They will be seated separately in an elaborately decorated ambari vehicle, according to the arrangements announced for the event.

The programme is expected to be attended by 12 foreign ambassadors, Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, royal family member Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mysuru district in-charge minister Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj S. Tangadagi and MLA T.S. Srivats are also scheduled to participate.

The formal sequence leading to the Jamboo Savari will begin at the Balarama Gate of the Mysuru Palace. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar is scheduled to perform the Nandidhwaja puja there between 1.36 pm and 1.56 pm, marking the start of the procession-related ceremony.

The access restrictions at the palace premises and the large seating arrangement reflect the scale of the event, which brings together state officials, cultural performers, security and civic administration in a concentrated public-space operation. The district administration’s arrangements are focused on regulating entry to the main viewing area while accommodating spectators and participants along the parade route.

The procession will feature cultural performances, district tableaux and participation by artists from the Kannada film industry. The announced programme will culminate in the movement of the Jamboo Savari through Mysuru’s ceremonial urban landscape, with the administration expecting large public attendance.
