Mysuru Dasara Jamboo Savari preparations received a final safety and crowd-management review on Tuesday evening, with district in-charge minister Dr Yatindra Siddaramaiah inspecting arrangements at the Ambavilas Palace premises ahead of Wednesday’s grand procession.
Siddaramaiah reviewed the seating arrangements created inside the palace grounds for the procession, the installation of barricades and the parking facilities planned for vehicles carrying dignitaries. He directed officials to ensure that members of the public and tourists arriving from across India and abroad do not face difficulties during the event.
The Jamboo Savari is one of the main attractions of the Mysuru Dasara festival. With the procession scheduled for Wednesday, the inspection focused on facilities and access arrangements at the palace, where the event preparations were being completed.
The minister instructed officials to put all arrangements in place in a systematic and safe manner. The directions covered the arrangements being made for spectators, crowd movement and vehicle parking for dignitaries within the palace premises, according to the report.
The inspection brought together senior officials responsible for district administration, policing, local governance and palace management. Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S. Yukesh Kumar and Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya accompanied the minister.
The presence of officials from these departments reflects the multiple administrative responsibilities involved in staging the procession. The district administration is responsible for overall coordination, the city police for security and crowd management, the Zilla Panchayat administration for its assigned civic responsibilities, and the Palace Board for arrangements within the palace complex.
The inspection also highlighted the operational importance of separating spectator seating, barricaded areas and vehicle parking at a major public event. These arrangements are intended to support the movement of visitors and dignitaries while maintaining safety within the palace grounds.
The report did not provide details of the total seating capacity, the number of barricades installed, the expected visitor count or any traffic diversions outside the palace premises. It also did not specify the duration of the procession or any additional public-access instructions.
Officials were directed to ensure that the remaining arrangements are completed carefully and safely before the Jamboo Savari takes place on Wednesday. The procession remains the next major milestone in the Mysuru Dasara programme.
