An Indore rooftop fire triggered by firecracker sparks was brought under control before it spread to nearby structures in Juni Indore on Tuesday night, with no injuries reported. The blaze broke out on the terrace of a locked building opposite Suyog Hospital in Transport Nagar at around 9.15 pm.
According to the report, sparks from firecrackers being burst during a Ravana Dahan ceremony landed on waste material stored on the rooftop. The waste caught fire and allowed the blaze to spread quickly across the terrace, causing panic among residents in the area.
Residents alerted the authorities after noticing the fire. A fire tender from the Moti Tabela fire station was sent to the location, and firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Their response prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent structures, according to the report.
Juni Indore police station in-charge Anil Gupta said residents had reported that some children were carrying out Ravana Dahan near the building when a firecracker spark flew towards the terrace of the locked structure. The spark is suspected to have ignited the waste kept there.
The incident highlights the immediate fire risk created when combustible waste is stored on building terraces, particularly near areas where fireworks are being used. The report does not specify the quantity or type of waste on the rooftop, or whether the building had any fire-safety equipment available at the time of the incident.
As a precaution during firefighting operations, the power supply in the surrounding area was switched off briefly. The temporary shutdown was intended to reduce electrical risk while crews worked to extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control without damage spreading to neighbouring buildings. The available account does not indicate whether any action was initiated regarding the storage of waste on the locked terrace or the use of firecrackers near the building. The incident was reported by residents to authorities, who responded with a fire tender from Moti Tabela fire station.
