Ahmedabad Petrol Pump Worker Attacked With Knife on Ambli Road

Ahmedabad petrol pump on Ambli Road during a night shift

A petrol-pump worker on Ahmedabad’s Iskcon-Ambli Road was allegedly assaulted and injured with a knife after asking two men in a Thar vehicle to wait while another car was being refuelled, according to a report by Divya Bhaskar. The two men reportedly fled in the vehicle, which did not have a number plate.

The incident took place while Shambhu Thakor, who lives in the Ambli area, was working the night shift at a petrol pump in the locality. A Thar arrived at the station to fill fuel while Thakor was attending to another vehicle.

According to the complaint cited in the report, Thakor raised his hand and signalled to the Thar driver to wait for a short while. The gesture allegedly angered the driver and the other person accompanying him. They questioned Thakor about why he had signalled at them, leading to an argument at the petrol pump.

The dispute reportedly escalated when both men assaulted the worker. During the attack, one of them allegedly struck Thakor on the forehead with a knife, causing an injury. The two men then left the petrol pump in the Thar before police arrived or could identify them, the report said.

The vehicle’s lack of a number plate has been cited in the account of the incident. The available report does not identify the two men or state whether the vehicle has been traced. It also does not provide details of Thakor’s medical treatment or the severity of his injury beyond the reported wound to his forehead.

The incident was reported to Sarkhej police, who registered a complaint and began investigating the assault. Police are expected to examine the circumstances of the altercation and work to identify the men who allegedly fled from the petrol pump.

The case places attention on the safety of workers who operate essential fuel services during night hours. Petrol pumps remain active urban service points where staff deal directly with motorists, often in open roadside settings. In this case, the dispute began over a short wait for refuelling and escalated into an alleged knife attack, according to the complaint described by the source.

Sarkhej police’s investigation and efforts to trace the Thar occupants are the next reported steps in the case.
