Raipur will host Ravana Dahan at six venues on Tuesday for Vijayadashami, with the Raipur Municipal Corporation, district administration and police coordinating sanitation, crowd control, emergency response and essential services across the city. The main event at WRS Ground will feature a 101-foot effigy, fireworks and cultural programmes expected to draw large crowds.
The six venues are Ravanbhatha, WRS Colony, Choubey Colony, Rajendra Nagar, Shankar Nagar and Ramkund near Swami Vivekananda Ashram. The civic body has appointed zone commissioners as nodal officers to supervise preparations and ensure that each venue and its approach roads are ready before the celebrations begin.
Officials have been directed to arrange sanitation, drinking water, streetlights, firefighting vehicles, road clearance and ground levelling at all six locations. The preparations are intended to provide basic facilities for visitors while supporting the movement and management of large gatherings around the celebration sites.
WRS Ground is expected to attract a particularly large crowd because of the 101-foot effigy, fireworks and cultural programmes. At Ravanbhatha, another major venue, officials are focusing on cleanliness, lighting, drinking water and firefighting arrangements. Similar facilities are being organised at the remaining locations, with the corporation instructing officials to coordinate with relevant departments.
Raipur Police Commissionerate will work with the civic administration on crowd management and emergency response. Home Guard deployment has also been included in the preparations. The municipal corporation has directed officials to take measures to control noise and air pollution during the festivities, particularly as fireworks are planned at the main venue.
The city is also preparing for Durga idol immersion at a designated pond near Mahadev Ghat. Direct immersion in the Kharun river remains prohibited, and arrangements are being made to ensure that the restriction is followed. The civic body has asked officials to coordinate the immersion process while maintaining the environmental directives connected to the river.
The municipal corporation has instructed officials to complete the essential arrangements before the celebrations begin. The final preparations cover venue access, public amenities, lighting, sanitation, firefighting, crowd management and compliance with restrictions on noise, air pollution and river immersion.
