Mumbai recorded Maharashtra’s highest maximum temperature at 37.3 degrees Celsius on Monday, 3.8 degrees above normal, as above-normal temperatures continued across several parts of the state, according to the India Meteorological Department’s evening weather bulletin reported by Mid-Day.

The city’s minimum temperature was also elevated at 27.4 degrees Celsius, 2.2 degrees above normal. At the Santacruz weather station, which represents Mumbai’s suburbs, the maximum temperature reached 37.1 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees above normal, while the minimum stood at 25.4 degrees Celsius, 1.5 degrees above normal.

The reading placed Mumbai marginally above Solapur, which recorded Maharashtra’s second-highest maximum temperature at 37.2 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees above normal. Other parts of the Konkan region also remained warmer than usual. Alibag and Dahanu recorded maximum temperatures of 36.4 degrees Celsius, while Ratnagiri reached 34.3 degrees Celsius.

Most reporting stations across Maharashtra recorded no rainfall on Monday, indicating largely dry conditions. The combination of higher daytime temperatures, warm nights and limited rainfall can increase heat exposure for residents, particularly those working outdoors or living in homes with poor ventilation. The supplied IMD bulletin did not issue a separate heatwave declaration for Mumbai.

Above-normal temperatures were also recorded across other regions of the state. In Madhya Maharashtra, Ahilyanagar recorded 36 degrees Celsius, Satara 35.2 degrees Celsius and Pune’s Shivajinagar station 35.1 degrees Celsius. In Vidarbha, Amravati reached 36.6 degrees Celsius, while Buldhana recorded 35.2 degrees Celsius, the highest departure from normal among the listed maximum temperatures at 4.9 degrees Celsius above normal.

In Marathwada, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recorded 36 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees above normal. Parbhani reached 35 degrees Celsius and Beed 34.7 degrees Celsius. Minimum temperatures were also above normal at several stations in the region, while Jalgaon recorded the state’s lowest minimum temperature at 18.3 degrees Celsius.

The IMD forecast partly cloudy conditions for Pune on Tuesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius. Pune’s seasonal rainfall stood at 14 millimetres against a normal of 62.9 millimetres, leaving a deficit of 61.5 millimetres, according to the bulletin. The latest forecast indicates that elevated temperatures and largely dry conditions are continuing across several parts of Maharashtra.
