Chamundi Hills free darshan will be available to devotees at Mysuru’s Chamundeshwari Temple through October 28, with the temple authority suspending paid darshan tickets priced at ₹50, ₹200 and ₹1,000 during the period.
The Chamundeshwari Kshetra Development Authority has arranged free darshan for every devotee, according to its secretary, M.J. Roopa. The decision changes the usual ticket-based access arrangements at one of Mysuru’s most visited religious destinations and is relevant to visitors planning trips to the hill during the period.
The authority has also specified that entry into the sanctum sanctorum will be restricted to dignitaries and very important persons. Devotees who have purchased tickets for abhisheka rituals will also not be allowed inside the sanctum, according to the statement reported by Prajavani.
Instead, prasada connected with the abhisheka will be distributed outside the sanctum. The arrangement means that devotees with abhisheka tickets will receive the prasada but will not have physical access to the inner shrine under the temporary system.
The announcement places the responsibility for managing visitor movement and communicating access conditions with the Chamundeshwari Kshetra Development Authority. For devotees, the key operational change is that paid darshan tickets will not be available until October 28, while free darshan will remain the general access arrangement.
The authority’s statement does not specify whether the temporary arrangement is linked to a festival, maintenance work, security measure or another operational reason. It also does not provide details on expected visitor numbers, queue management, parking arrangements or any changes to hill access. Devotees travelling to Chamundi Hills will therefore need to account for the restricted sanctum entry and the external distribution of abhisheka prasada during the period.
